How to celebrate in the cold with style, and stay comfortable once indoors. Holiday party and winter wedding accessories can be used to stay warm outdoors. With a little planning you can adapt them to make sure you stay cool indoors.
Starting at the top, most body heat is lost through the head. Hats make a fashion statement, but you need to think about your hairstyle. If you will be outdoors for the whole event, or most of it, a hat is a great way to keep warm. What can you do if you need to remove the hat for the indoor part of the party? Ear muffs that go around the back of the head will leave most hairstyles intact. A light wide yet warm scarf worn loosely over your hair will also have minimal disturbance. Hairspray is your friend even if you wear nothing on your head as wind is also very common at winter weddings.
If you plan to keep the rest of yourself warm, a head covering may not be needed. Even if you do wear a hat, earmuffs or scarf you will want additional warmth in the icy cold. Covering your shoulders and arms will provide warmth. Boleros, wraps and jackets can keep your dress visible yet provide maximum warmth by covering the arms and shoulders. These winter accessories are easily removed to keep you comfortable in the warm indoor heat. Getting overheated isn’t fun, so think about that when you choose your dress or outfit. A thick sweater may look great, but if you are trapped in it in a warm room full of people there’s no way out. Look for layered outfits and be sure you feel great about how you look with the top layer removed.
Hands will get cold first because circulation will focus on the core of the body where the vital organs are. Consider wearing gloves, mittens or a muff. There are many fashionable mittens and gloves that could emphasize your ensemble. Did you ever have a fur muff as a child? Now’s your chance! Revisit a vintage look for today’s holiday party. We have a fur muff that will double as an evening bag with it’s hidden zipper pouch for holding a few necessities. Not all muffs will have that feature, so be sure to check all the details.
Feet will get cold first right along with the hands. There are many fashionable boots that can keep your toes warm too. Remember that you can wear warm socks hidden inside boots too. In this way fashion boots can adapt to cold weather events. Once inside you can remove the socks and tuck them in a coat pocket or evening bag. For a bold statement check out fur leg warmers!
Don’t let the cold weather keep you indoors! Have fun at your holiday parties and winter weddings!
