I can never find my size. You are not alone! You can still wear most dresses if you have them altered – tailored. If a formal occasion dress is within 2 sizes larger, it can be altered to fit (in most cases). Someone a size 2 could get a size 4 or 6 and have it taken in to fit.
Some of us find one area of the dress fits perfect while another is too big, the hips may fit fine while the bust is too loose, or the other way around. In this case you want the one area to fit while the other area is too big. It is much better to take in a dress while it’s sometimes impossible to let a dress out enough. Therefore avoid choosing a dress that fits one area and is too tight in another.
This dress was too big at the bust and the straps were 2 inches too long. With the sides taken in and the straps shortened it’s a perfect fit.
When shopping for formal occasions or prom and weddings keep in mind that the dress you love could be altered to achieve a great fit.
