bridal veil fabric

Bridal Illusion is a netting known as tulle, a very fine net with tiny holes. Bridal illusion is a high quality fine tulle, the softest. This is what most wedding veils are made of.

  • A netting fabric, matte
  • 100% nylon, good for outdoor and beach weddings
  • Our widest bridal veil fabric, up to 108 inches wide
  • Our most transparent fabric
  • Good for long veils
  • See Bridal Illusion Veils in action

Glimmer Illusion  is like bridal illusion, only it is shiny while  bridal illusion is matte. Also know as sparkle illusion, glimmer illusion is just slightly stiffer than bridal illusion.

  • A netting fabric, shiny
  • 100% nylon, good for outdoor and beach weddings
  • Our widest bridal veil fabric, up to 108 inches wide
  • Our most transparent fabric
  • Good for long veils

chiffon veilsSilk Chiffon is a thin woven fabric. Chiffon is cloth, unlike illusion it doesn’t have holes like a netting, so it is opaque. You can only see a shadowy vision of what’s underneath it, it’s not transparent. Chiffon is heavier than illusion, so chiffon veils are not fluffy. A chiffon veil will hang straight down flowing softly.

  • A woven fabric, matte
  • 100% Silk, do not get it wet
  • Silk like texture, not as smooth as polyester chiffon
  • Opaque, slightly less opaque than polyester chiffon
  • A narrow fabric, only 42 inches wide
  • Good for short to medium veils, or for a narrow look
  • See Silk Chiffon Veils in action

Polyester Chiffon is a thin woven fabric like silk chiffon, only this is made of polyester. Polyester chiffon veils can get wet while silk chiffon veils cannot. Polyester chiffon is also wider, good for a longer or fuller veil. Both silk and polyester chiffon are smooth and flowing, but polyester has a little smoother texture, is a little heavier and slightly more opaque.

  • A woven fabric, matte (less matte than silk)
  • 100% polyester, it can get wet
  • Smoother texture
  • Maximum width is 60 inches

transparent vs opaque fabric

Transparent Vs. Opaque

Transparent bridal veil fabric is easy to see through.

Opaque fabric only show a clouded view of what’s behind it.

organza veilsOrganza is a thin woven fabric. Organza is a cloth like chiffon, however organza is stiff while chiffon is limp. Organza veils are transparent and the fabric is extremely smooth and light, making it almost as fluffy as bridal illusion.

  • A woven fabric, shiny
  • 100% polyester, good in all weather
  • Transparent
  • Very smooth slippery texture
  • Flowing, yet stiffer than the other veil fabrics
  • Maximum width is 60 inches

English net veils

English Net is a netting fabric. It has holes like bridal illusion, but the fibers are thicker. English net is not as fluffy as bridal illusion and not as transparent, semi-transparent. English net veils flow and drape beautifully, giving them a similar look to Kate Middleton’s silk tulle veil only without the higher price.

  • A netting fabric, matte
  • Only comes in white and ivory
  • 100% polyester, good for outdoor or beach weddings
  • A little thicker than bridal illusion, semi-transparent
  • Drapes and flows similar to silk tulle
  • Maximum width is 60 inches

silk tulle veils

Silk Tulle is a netting fabric made of silk so it is very fragile and extremely soft. Silk tulle is gauze like similar to cheesecloth. Silk tulle veils are best at short to medium lengths. This is a very expensive fabric, around $100 per yard. For a more durable and less expensive veil that flows and looks similar to silk tulle try an English net veil.

  • A netting fabric, expensive and fragile
  • 100% silk
  • Gauze like texture
  • Semi-transparent
  • A narrow fabric, only 42 inches wide
  • Only for short to medium length veils

French netting birdcage veil

French Net is a netting fabric with large holes. French net is for birdcage veils (unless you have an idea, but it only comes as wide as 18 inches). French net veils are stiff and kind of have a mind of their own, plan on using bobby pins to tame it. Achieve a retro vintage look with French net veils.

  • A netting fabric
  • Holes are large
  • Fabric is stiff
  • Transparent through the big holes
  • For birdcage veils
  • Narrow, comes 18 inches wide or 9 inches wide
  • White, ivory and black are the only colors
